Three day weekend

Posted by Scott at 01:35 PM

I took Monday off now that we're at the start of a new quarter. Over the course of this past weekend, we had a few nice events. Michelle and I went out to dinner with my mom and dad to Ya Mamas Italian restaurant. It was a nice quiet dinner compared to our loud dinner at Grand Buffet.

On Monday morning I went with mom, dad, and Abby to Parker's Maple Barn. It was interesting to see how Abby became such a daddy's girl when her mom wasn't handy. Michelle was teaching a step class that morning. Dad and I picked up Claire from school on Monday and took her to Kips ice cream parlor in downtown Nashua. Considering that The Big One ice cream stand closed early this summer, this is a nice consolation.

I did do quick work on some photos this past weekend as well. Nothing too spectacular. The boys are wearing their nice fur lined leather booties that they got from Poland. We also bought Claire a Snow White costume for Halloween. Enjoy!

Mom and Dad drove out this morning to make a day trip to Weston, Vermont. Supposedly there's a nice monastary there that they wanted to visit. I gave dad my film camera to take with him. Hopefully he'll get some nice shots while they're out there. Like all film work, though, the results take longer to post.

I may try having dotPhoto handle the film work this time. I've uploaded my last few sets of digital prints to them for processing. At first I was rather annoyed that they didn't do online cropping or put captions on the prints. Since then I've learned how to use my local image editting tools (aka the GIMP) to crop with the proper aspect ratio for 4x6, 5x7, etc. I've also just been putting captions on the prints directly. Captions don't help much if they're printed on the back (like ShutterFly does) if the pictures end up in photo albums anyway. After all, no one sees the back of a print inside a photo album!

For my friends who work in government jobs, Happy (fiscal) New Year!
