Back to School

Good morning! After a nice three day weekend, it's time to get back to business as usual with school and work. 6:10am

I got Claire and Abby dropped off at the high school and the twins dropped off at middle school. Michelle should have a pretty light day today. She has to take Jingle for his annual vet appointment and later get a hair cut. 9:04am

Despite the rain on the morning commute, it went well listening to Patrick Madrid's podcast from last Thursday. 9:22am

"Summer flies, winter walks". [Hat tip: Teresa Tomeo] Here in New England that seems especially so. 9:48am

Sign posted in National Park: "Please do not feed the animals - because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves." Interesting that bureaucrats are honest about that when it comes to animals... 10:40am

I'm sorry but why is an FBI agent carrying around a database of 12 million Apple Unique Device IDs on his laptop? (related story) Update: Later in the day there was some question about whether the data really came from the FBI. 11:43am

Went with one of the driver guys over to the cafeteria to pick up some lunch. Like this morning it is still raining with the remnants of the hurricane that hit the Gulf last week. After lunch I spoke briefly with Michelle. She got Jingle taken care of, got her hair cut, and we got the septic pumped too. The joys of living without town water and sewage… 1:10pm

Massachusetts judge approves taxpayer-funded sex change for inmate. As a NH-ite paying MA income taxes... eyeroll. Is there no benefit we can say ‘no’ to? 1:47pm

I totally agree with Pat Padley : Autumn is my very favorite time of year, esp. here in New England. (related article) 6:15pm

Had a bit of a struggle getting to the root of a problem this afternoon and stayed late until it was resolved. Can't believe it had to do with end-of-line markers! Ugh! What a waste of time! Missed tonight's Opus Dei Evening of Recollection. Listened to the rest of Patrick Madrid on the drive and then to This Week in Tech the rest of the way home. 7:43pm

Claire has a lab tomorrow dealing with hydrogen. It was a teachable moment for me to tell Timothy about the Hindenburg. 7:43pm

“They were all amazed and said to one another,
‘What is there about his word?
For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits,
and they come out.’
And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.”
