Doing Its Job

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! It's been a bit chaotic. I dropped the older four off at their schools. Tim took the bus. I got a few things done for work from my home desk. Then Michelle and I drove into oncology. She had her vitals and blood work taken right away but we're waiting for her appointment. Luckily I brought my laptop for the "hurry up and wait" time. 10:33am

Back home from oncology and a lunch at Cafe on the Oval. The PET scans seem to indicate that Michelle's medicine is weakening/hurting the main tumor. It is smaller and weaker in metabolic activity. There doesn't seem to be signs of spreading either. You can't really analyze the few other masses as they're only the size of sesame seeds. This is great news because the medicine is also being reasonably tolerated. After months of taking this expensive medicine, wondering if it's really doing anything, now we know it did. 1:34pm

Abby and the twins got home a while ago. Michelle promised she'd pick Timothy up from school today since he took the bus in this morning. Claire decided to stay at school and do a casual 4 mile run with the cross country team. She can't be on the team this year due to the need to take Driver's Ed, but wanted to get in a run with her friends on the team. 3:28pm

Took a brief break for a bite of dinner. Now just one last 6 o'clock conference call before I embark on my 3 day weekend. 6:03pm

Thumbnail of Ice Cream CelebrationTook Michelle and the kids out for ice cream at Haywards to celebrate Michelle's good PET scan. Actually Abby is out with her friend Julia, who later will stay over night when they get back. 8:00pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. We can hear a lot of giggling from the girls. Reminded them not to stay up too late. If they were snarky, they could have replied with a quote from today's readings. See below. Good night all! 9:30pm

“Therefore, stay awake,
for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
Matthew 25
