Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! I was just going through my morning email and Amazon sent me a notice that "Gone with the Wind" was now available in BluRay. How much retouching must they have done to make it look decent in BluRay?! 6:20am

Dropped Claire, Abigail, Brittany, Jessica, Shauna, and Nicholas off at middle school again. Now enjoying some coffee and warm blueberry muffins that Michelle baked this morning. She's a keeper. 7:54am

Michelle has dropped the boys off at their schools and is now at Golds teaching her 20/20/20 class. I'm VPN'd into work for the day. 9:14am

Took Michelle out for a quick lunch and coffee. Dropped our tractor blades off for sharpening too. Back to Microsoft Word'ing... 1:02pm

Remotely attending an "all hands" meeting with my division. I'm always impressed when I look at future looking product roadmaps because we always tend to think about what has just come out. (ie. iPad, HTC Evo, etc.) But to see what is realistically possible in 2-3 years is always paradigm shifting. The amount of CPUs, graphics, video, camera, etc. that we'll hold in our hands... wow! 5:24pm

After Michelle gave the boys fresh haircuts, I put on the first half of "Curious George 2" on TV for them. Now that I've put 'em in bed, I'm burning another 15 hours of "Anna Karenina" to CD as I'm almost done with my 1st CD's 15 hours. (The whole thing is ~38 hours long) Meanwhile the girls are downstairs watching another episode of "Chuck" (season 2). 8:34pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Father Barron: an update from Rome
Comment: As he also says, "there are people in our society who have a vested interest in embarrassing and undermining the Catholic Church, and they will stop at nothing to achieve this end. The coverage of allegations against the Pope has been blood in the water, and the sharks are circling."
Excerpt: I want to say, "don't they realize that they are going after the one man in the world who can do the most to solve this problem?" No one in the world understands the gravity of the situation more fully or has taken more practical steps to solve it as Joseph Ratzinger.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog at Netflix
Comment: This had been sitting in my Netflix queue for a while but I played it while I debugging this morning. Neil Patrick Harris from "How I Met Your Mother" and Nathan Fillion from "Firefly" as his nemesis. Campy musical numbers galore.
Excerpt: When he's not busy breaking the law or trying to get close to his secret crush, Penny (Felicia Day), supervillain wannabe Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) boasts about his exploits via his Internet video blog and dreams of defeating his nemesis, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion).

Multi-Stream Tuner Cards by Ceton
Comment: Perhaps something like this, combined with a Windows Media Center PC, could be what replaces our aging main floor TiVo.
Excerpt: It enables Media Center PCs to play or record up to four live channels of HDTV at once, and stream live HD channels or recordings to multiple HDTVs throughout the home, all from a single cable connection and a single CableCARD™

"Al Gore Did Not Invent the Internet. He Invented Global Warming" Tee Shirt
