Good morning! It's a typical Friday. For me it's technically a three day weekend, but I'll likely move the Monday holiday out a few days to when my dad visits. Claire took Abby and the twins to school. Michelle went to early Mass and took Timothy to school. I head down to the office, offering up the Joyful Mysteries for Michelle's continuing good health and listened to more of Sheen's "Life of Christ" the rest of the way. 9:10am

Made it home, listening to more of "Life of Christ". I am now about one third through the book. While I wish that there was a real audiobook of it, using text-to-speech voice synthesis has been a reasonable compromise. I think I'll be doing this for other titles I want to read that aren't audiobooks. 7:31pm

It was with some interest that I saw this story on Hacker News: Posterous will turn off on April 30. For years Posterous had been the Coke to the Pepsi of Tumblr. I dabbled with them a while back to see what they were like. I've also toyed with the idea of using SquareSpace. In any case this is yet another case where you really want to own your own content. Posterous started in 2008, skyrocketed in popularity for a while, and now less than five years later is shutting down the lights. If something online is free, you aren't the customer. You're the product. And if their business model doesn't makes sense, ask yourself how long they can stay in business. 9:55pm
