You didn't build that!

Good morning! It's already 80°F in Milford and should get to ~93°F this afternoon. Michelle and the kids don't have any obligations [classes, jobs, appointments, etc.] so they'll probably just be able to relax at the pool today. 9:01am

I had a smooth drive in. I decided to just open up the car (windows, sunroof) and stay cool with the breezes. Yes, I miss the convertible from when I was 19. ;-] I listened to the EWTN homily on yesterday's readings. I was eager to hear it because in yesterday's Gospel the Prince of Peace proclaims a certain kind of division. I also listened to Jimmy Akin's podcast on the "God Particle" and its importance. 9:09am

A Higgs boson particle is kicked out of a Catholic Church by the priest. “Okay,” it says. “But without me, you can’t have Mass.” Catholic Nerd Humor! (you see, the Higgs boson particle helps physicists explain gravity and mass in their standard model of material world… oh, it's no fun when you have to explain it!) 9:09am

Carbon prices fall to new record low — $4/ton. Too bad I can't get a ton of (carbon based) wood pellets that cheaply. I attribute the fall to trying to set a free market price on a fake asset like carbon emission trading. 9:31am

Liking the trending tag on Twitter: #somebodymadethathappen 9:56am

Via Fector: “In Obama's world entrepreneurs get no credit for starting businesses, but politicians have their names emblazoned on highways.” 11:02am

I'm sure Michelle can relate to this with our three cats. :-) 12:20am

A whole web site devoted to satirizing the political “You didn't build that” meme of the day. 1:41pm

Via jamestaranto: “She's really built!” Politician: “Somebody else did that.” 5:31pm

After getting stuck in a big way with my debugging efforts yesterday, I'm happy to have dug out and caught up on test development today. But now it's time to face the heat [literally] and see how Michelle and the kids have fared today. 5:53pm

I think this type of behavior might make my wife burst a blood vessel in her forehead: “Ohio Woman Panhandles For Breast Implants”. Sure enough, the reaction when I showed it to her was as predicted. “She should be happy for what she has!” i.e. at least they're healthy. I'm sure anyone who has battled breast cancer would share that sentiment! 6:17pm

Left a little later than I would have liked. Had a smooth drive home, listening to podcasts on current events, especially the "you didn't build that" comment by our President. Even though it was 92°F and sunny, I just opened the windows and sunroof and enjoyed the wind and the sunshine. I'll just say I was trying to supplement my vitamin D. 7:15pm

When I got home I learned that today Michael and Timothy both finished the novels they've been reading recently. I'm happy to see them turning around on this. Daniel, who's been consuming books like crazy, should finish his current one tomorrow or Thursday. Michelle and the kids (and the neighbor's twins) did go to the town pool, but they went late in the afternoon after the day camps had gone and when she didn't need to spend fifteen minutes getting everyone lathered up with sunblock. 7:35pm

I got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. I helped Michelle with her preventative Aquaphor, used to offset Xeloda's potential effects. I'm going to bed as soon as this is uploaded... Good night all! 9:40pm
