Reading, Hacking, Swimming and BBQ

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Remember when I said Michelle's chemo regimen is shifting to two weeks on, one week off? Today starts the second consecutive "on" week. Right now Michelle is preparing her pill box for the week ahead. We pray that it stays reasonably well tolerated with this higher dosage. 6:09am

Claire and Michelle went to Confession yesterday afternoon. Then we all went to Mass last night. So this morning has little rush. Claire does have the 8:30am to 3pm shift at Subway. 6:11am

You may remember that a few weeks ago I tried Jekyll. This morning I tinkered with Pyblosxom. It still wasn't enough to move me off of my old version of MovableType software. 7:09am

Took Michelle and the boys for breakfast at Donut Fresh Express. Now just reading the reflections on today's readings. “My Grace is sufficient for you.9:45am

“I am who am not.” (Kindle link) “He still says this today in different words… ” (Kindle link) Both of these commentaries are in the context of Jesus' temptation during his 40 days in the desert. 11:41am

Helped Michelle with the groceries. Then we worked on today's juice combo: carrot, celery, apple, pear, grape, and lime. Wow! That one lime made all the difference! Soon we'll take the boys to the pool... 12:43am

As we enjoy our drinks, I'm skimming the Wander Lust package. While it sounds like a vice, it's an Emacs package for efficiently handling Email via the IMAP protocol. I had stopped using Emacs for email years ago because back then IMAP support stunk. I may look at this later... 1:00pm

We had just loaded up the van and were heading down Elm St. when we saw Claire biking home from work. She's done way early. So we turned around and head back home so that she could change and come with us to the pool. 1:42pm

Just back from a great afternoon at the pool. The pool wasn't overcrowded. The temps were reasonable and dry. When we weren't swimming, we had plenty of great conversations in the shade of the awnings. Claire and I also read a bit. Now we're just debating where to have a nice dinner out. 4:50pm

Decided to take the family to Memphis BBQ & Blues. It's a relatively new place that opened near the Milford/Wilton town line on Hwy 101. It had awesome food! Everything was so tasty! Highly recommended! Since the portions were generous, we got by just splitting three meals: me & Tim, Michelle & Claire, Michael & Daniel. 6:10pm

We stopped by Rite Aid on the way home to buy a hair coloring kit. Michelle is going to try to give Claire red streaks in her blonde hair. Ah, mother daughter bonding. ;-P 6:34pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. I set Michelle and Claire up with Good Will Hunting for tonight, though I have doubts that Michelle can stay awake that long… Good night all! 9:25pm

“Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me,
but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is made perfect in weakness.’ ”
