Mom's Last Day

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning. Michelle and I dropped the kids off at their schools. Michelle, Chris, Suzy, Alyssa and I went for breakfast at Cafe on the Oval. Then the five of us went to Southern NH Medical Center to join dad as we stay with mom. 10:52am

Mom has been taken off the artificial stimulants and put on a comfort only regimen. We expect that soon her heart rate and blood pressure will fall off. 12:14am

Fuhgeddabout Occupy Wall Street. Join the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. (related link) Excerpt: “Would you like to join a worldwide movement that lives a life that publicly subverts the establishment and endorses freedom from corruption, greed, violence and negativity of all sorts?”12:52am

Spent the afternoon with my dad and siblings with mom. When they decided to put her on a comfort only regimen, she was taken out of ICU and put in one of the regular hospital beds. She's on the basics for comfort now: oxygen and morphine drips. There are no monitors or sensors anymore. We're just trying to give her a peaceful transition. 7:04pm

Around 6 o'clock I left with dad so he could come back to the house to freshen up with a shower 'n shave. Soon I'll take him back for an overnight stay and bring my siblings home. Michelle just dropped the girls off at Youth Group. I hope they have a nice night. 7:05pm

I brought dad back to the hospital. Soon I'll bring the sibs back home with me. 8:23pm

My siblings and I head out around 9:30. We're all just chatting a bit with my girls before we head to bed. 10:23pm
