The “Cool” Mom

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! We just wrapped up Mass at St. Patricks and breakfast at DFE. We dropped Claire off at work for the 9 to 3 shift. Michelle and Abby went to the store to get the ingredients needed to make Claire a birthday cake. I'm helping Timothy with his laptop. Hoping to watch the new Dr. Who soon. 9:36am

Via linorulli: “Heading to church, praying for a Vikings win. And world peace. Some days not sure if either are possible.” 9:40am

We just finished watching the new Dr. Who. I wasn't ready for that ending! 11:01am

Reading the wiki page on this new Dr. Who episode to clarify some of the details. Seems I end up doing this a lot... So many subtle details packed into each episode. 11:17am

Took the family swimming at the Nashua YMCA. Even Michelle went in this time, including the water slide, as her surgical incisions are now closed up. She's now re-joined “the cool mom” club in the kids' eyes. 1:56pm

Brought Claire home from work and did some honey-do's and errands. Picked up some take out dinner from Milanos. Helped Claire with her math homework and read about half of Neal Stephenson's In the Beginning Was the Command Line. As soon as Claire was caught up on her homework, we celebrated with the cake that Michelle and Abby made her. By the time the new Disney premieres aired, I was dozing on the couch. I'm so turning into my father! 9:17pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Still debating some photo services like Flickr Pro and Picnik. 9:19pm

Decided to get a Flickr Pro account and a Picnik Premium account. Flickr Pro gives me unlimited storage and access to the full resolution that I uploaded. Prior to that it only ever let me see a 1024x768 reduced version of my uploads. It also unlocked the 200 picture limit so I was seeing snapshots as far back as 2007 when I first started tinkering with it for cameraphone uploads. The Picnik account lets me edit any of those snapshots online, which is much faster for simple tweaks than first importing them on my laptop, editing them in Photoshop Elements, and then uploading them. Now I just need to get an Eye Fi card for the camera to streamline the photo taking to uploading process. 10:11pm

In upgrading my Flickr account, I now saw pre-cancer cameraphone snapshots I took of Michelle, like this, this, and this. Happier, with shoulder length hair. Must. Control. Emotions. 10:49pm

Snapshots I took today:
