The Return Home

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Via Fector: All news reports on the 2012 race should include the disclaimer “Brought to you by the same folks who overhyped Hurricane Irene.” 4:51am

We'll use a different route home today: “High water closes Kancamagus Highway”. 4:56am

Hampton Inn Water ParkGood morning! Yesterday's storm is 'so outta here'. Today is sunny and mid 70's. The girls are planning one last visit to the outlet center before we hit the road. Meanwhile the boys will hit the water park one last time. 7:28am

Is Rick Perry dumb? Way to stay classy Politico. Way to stay classy. 7:39am

We were thinking of going on the M/S Mount Washington, but the kids weren't in the mood. It looks like we'll just dawdle around the area and make a leisurely drive back home. 10:17am

Stopping in Meredith at the Mill Falls marketplace. 12:44am

Stopped at the Town Docks restaurant along the banks of Meredith Bay for lunch. Excellent food. They also have a small ice cream stand next door. Then we setup "How to Train Your Dragon" and drove back to Milford. 7:19pm

Arrived back in Milford around 4:30pm. Everything at the house looks normal, as if TS Irene was a non-event up here. I'm thankful while my heart still goes out to those who did see damage from her. 4:45pm

When we finally returned home late this afternoon, I was amazed at how normal everything looked on our property. Expected large downed branches, debris in the yard, maybe a shingle or two. Nothin'. And for that I'm thankful! a) that everything is okay and b) that we took the chance and went on this brief vacation. We were almost scared out of going by the news stories leading up to Irene. The drive home was be-a-utiful, as though God was apologizing for the previous day's weather. 5:00pm

Once I got things brought in from the van, I called my folks to let them know how our weekend went and that the house was okay. Then Claire and I went to the Step Circuit class at Golds. 7:00pm

On the drive back home from Golds Claire and I split a frappé made with milk and lime sherbet. It's my new favorite but I could be biased by how awesome citrus flavors taste after a strenuous workout. It was like a lime flavored Dreamsicle. Recommended! 7:42pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again tonight. Good night all! 9:00pm
