Michelle's Ultrasound

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Had a rough night of sleep. Too many butterflies in my stomach about mom's and Michelle's cancers. Most of my office peers are in San Diego for discussions that I'll attend remotely. I'm Mr. Mom this morning as Michelle teaches her Step class and then goes for an ultrasound this morning. I wish it was the kind of ultrasound I was hoping for about 4 years ago, but it's just checking whether this chemo recipe has any effect on the small tumor. 8:41am

Got off the phone with my auto insurance. Yesterday's minor bumper scrape is supposed to be handled out of pocket by the party involved, but just in case it doesn't happen, I wanted to have the incident details logged and ‘in the system’. 10:49am

Timothy and Daniel went with me to get Michael from school. Now we're picking up lunch at Wendy's. I like their new 'natural cut' french fries. 11:47am

I had no idea that this icon of my home town had merited such a detailed Wikipedia page about Gene and Judes hot dogs. 12:10am

St. Francis de Sales on My Refrigerator Door — a doctor of the church and patron saint of writers brought a Word in Season to a young mother with breast cancer. I found this article when look over the following prayer that Michelle gave me this morning after hearing about my sleepless night. 3:17pm

“Do not look forward in fear
to the changes of life;
rather look to them with full hope
as they arise.
God, whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same everlasting Father who cared for you today
will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering,
Or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace
And put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.”

— Saint Francis de Sales

The lack of sleep last night is catching up with me. Luckily Michelle got us DD iced coffees to sustain us. I'll probably be a zombie at tonight's class at Golds. I'm thinking of missing tonight's Opus Dei Circle for fear I'd fall asleep on the drive home. It's ~1/2 hour away on a dark, quiet road. 4:00pm

I always find it funny how often managers do screen presentations with Outlook still running in the background. Meanwhile in small popup windows all of the staff sees snippets of emails that could possibly be too sensitive for non-manager, staff level employees to see. 4:32pm

Wrapped up work and its afternoon-long conference call around 5 o'clock. Head over to Golds Gym for the Step Circuit class. Between last night's sleeplessness and this workout, I think I'd better stay home after dinner. Michelle's making me a simple grilled cheese with pastrami, as I'm not in the mood for anything heavy. I am parched from the workout though. 7:07pm

Yes it's only 8 o'clock, but I already dozed off watching a Disney sitcom with the kids. Good night all! 8:00pm
