Snow Day

Posted by Scott at 09:31 PM

Good morning! WMUR is currently reporting 648 closings in NH this morning. Basically every school. It's still dark outside so I can't really tell how much snow we got overnight, but it's hitting its stride now and should taper off around mid-afternoon. I'll be VPN'd into work and start clearing in the late afternoon or early evening. 6:41am

Reminiscent of years ago when one of my kids asked, "What's film?" today Abby asked us what a Fax is. 7:57am

Sun is finally up. Our world is blanketed in a fresh coat o' white. I'd guesstimate about 1/2 a foot so far. Supposed to continue til 3-4pm. 7:59am

Via Ihnatko: 24-hour Laurel & Hardy marathon on TCM. It's almost as if they knew a snowstorm would force New Englanders to stay home all day. 8:12am

Michelle 'n Abby did some preliminary cleanup of things I can't snowblow (deck, trampoline, etc) and estimate we're up to 10" of snow so far. 9:23am

Suddenly the Media is Concerned About Tone and rhetoric. 11:10am

Google Places, originally on Android, now comes to the iPhone. 11:13am

Via ClaytonMorris: Confirmed: iPhone hotspot tethering coming to ALL iPhones in a software update. Not just Verizon iPhones. And there was much rejoicing... 1:20pm

After my last conference call, I fired up the snowblower and cleared things out. God, did I thank you for the replacement snow blower last year? If not, thanks again. It made quick work of this major dump of snow today. I'd guess 16-18 inches of snow. 7:18pm

AMD CEO ousted over tablets, but AMD ousted its tablet chip in 2009 -- Recalls when my division was sold to Qualcomm. 8:46pm

Watched the recent episode of "The Middle" with Michelle and the girls. Decided to shut down the Amazon server instance I had running in their EC2 "cloud" for some Linux tinkering. Still happy to see the bill: $2.38 to rent my own node for a handful of days. My eyes are getting tired. G'night all! 9:30pm
