Snow's comin'... Work from home

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! We were a bit behind this morning because the alarm clock that I've had since college days finally died. Time to order another one. I dropped the girls at school but am working from home today because of snow that arrives this afternoon. I doubt it'll be much today but we'll have 3 to 6 inches by tomorrow. It's the kind of storm that is difficult to forecast. 8:11am

Perry video: (related link) Dooby dooby doo-bah. Perry! He's a semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal of action! He's a furry little flatfoot, who'll never flinch from a fray-ee-ay-ee-ay! He's got more than just mad skill, He's got a beaver's tail and a bill... 8:23am

For the first time in many weeks, went with Michelle on a lunch date at Cafe on the Oval with a stop at DFE for coffee on the way back. 1:07pm

Finished first of two conference calls this afternoon. Got some decent news about my mom via an SMS from my dad. One last conference call in half an hour. Also Michelle is about to teach her first "Cardio Blast" class. She volunteered to help Golds offer something for Friday nights. For now it's at 5pm but in about two months it'll probably move out to 5:30pm to help folks who come straight from work. 4:29pm

As much as I tinker with Amazon EC2 (computing in Amazon's cloud of servers), I got a kick out of today's Dilbert. 4:41pm

Finally done for the week. I'd forgotten how chilly my home desk can get in the winter. I often close the door and the heat from the wood stove can't work its way up there. It sounds like Michelle's pilot Cardio Blast went well. 6:48pm

After dinner I put three more of Timothy's favorite games on his DS flash card: Phineas & Ferb, MarioKart DS, and the New Super Mario Bros DS. Now about to enjoy one of my favorite desserts of the holiday season: eggnog flavor ice cream. Any day now it'll be impossible to find this flavor... 7:18pm

You too can buy Cam's house from Ferris Bueller's Day Off! 10:05pm

Just being a geek and refreshing my memory on how to launch a desktop environment "in the cloud". (see snapshot below) The window in the center is the latest Ubuntu desktop environment running Firefox on one of Amazon's servers. Remote access via NX. I'm going to keep this instance running and continue tinkering with it over the weekend. It should only cost a few dollars. Good night all! 11:04pm

Abbott and Costello meets the 21st century - Q: So when David Tennant goes to get his paycheck, Who gets the money? A: Every dollar of it. After all, the man earns it. 11:38pm
