Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 10:13 PM

Good morning! My eyes just did not want to open this morning. They were like slits for half an hour. It's going to be another sunny and mid-70's day. Shweet! 6:31am

Got my girls to middle school and had a smooth commute (~57mpg) into Boxborough, MA. I offered up a Rosary for the health of my wife and mother. And then... finally... finished "Anna Karenina". I loved it. And bonus: it's Friday -- fresh bagel day here at the office. 9:05am

My (related link) is getting too long. I think I'll know what I'll be doing this weekend... There are just so many things I come across during the day but can't read... 4:29pm

I've spent more time today debugging internal digital representations of floating point numbers than I have ever wanted to. Unfortunately I only see more of it in my near future. For now though time to log out and head north back to The 603™. 5:52pm

Smooth commute home. Came home to the news that Timothy accidentally put a deep gouge into the paint of the new van. Our. new. van. Trying to find my patience and forgiveness, considering we only made the first payment on it last week. Breathe, breathe, breathe... 7:24pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Super Mario Galaxy 2 review: Nintendo perfects platforming
Comment: Abby 'n the boys are getting psyched! FYI: Abby finished all levels of the original, with her younger bros often watching in admiration.
Excerpt: Super Mario Galaxy 2 is Nintendo at the top of its game, coming home to play in a genre it all but created. The hype is huge, but it's justified because the level design is nothing short of genius and the fresh ideas never seem to end. This is a must-play.

Video: Trololo
Comment: And now... for your lunchtime entertainment...
Excerpt: Too many words :D

Google
Comment: Have you been to Google's home page today to play a game of PacMan (in honor of its 30th anniversary)?

GenUpload: Two weeks with KIN
Comment: Although... judging from my daughter, the iPhone is still a preferred teen phone of choice. I doubt any teen has even heard of the new KIN. Too bad, 'cause it's a pretty sweet little phone in the texting, social networking, sharing domain.
Excerpt: Overall, the KIN isn’t perfect. But it does get a lot of things right, especially in regard to teenagers. And, with a few tweaks – particularly in regard to the refresh rate on the Loop and a lower data price – it could well be the perfect phone for teens.

Live free or die... In the 603
Comment: Somebody please stop me from buying some NH bling. I think I know where I might get my next workout t-shirt...
Excerpt: Our Company - “In The (603)” is a New Hampshire based marketing company looking to showcase the incredible Granite State and everything it has to offer.

Kirby Super Star on the Wii's Virtual Console
Comment: Hm. My oldest son Michael is a huge Kirby fan (and I don't mean the vacuums, that would be Michelle). And this came out this past week. 800 points/$8. It might be worth it.

BBC News - Climate change is 'distraction' on malaria spread
Comment: But, but, but... what about the precious polar bears. They would've fallen faster if we didn't overreact about DDT.
Excerpt: Noting that malaria incidence *fell* over the last century, researchers calculate that control measures have at least 10 times more impact than climate factors.

Theophilos
Comment: Decided to order this in hardcover tonight. I've enjoyed several of Michael O'Brien's other works of fiction although it's been a few years since I've read him. Still on the hunt for my next big commuting audiobook...
Excerpt: The book is written primarily in first person from the perspective of Theophilos--a physician steeped in the belief system of the Greek Gods though who still is more effectively an agnostic--who has now become quite disturbed by his nephew's sudden belief in the cult of "the Christos"---The Way of J...

Medjugorje Chicago.org - Collen Willard's Testimony
Comment: Loggin' out but going to watch this video recommended to me by my ol' St. Cyprian friend, Zdenko Zovko before I go to bed. Yes, you can have two Z's in your name and still be very cool! Good night all!
