Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 08:09 PM

Good morning! I dropped the girls off at middle school & the twins off at elementary school. Timothy is feeling under the weather and will stay home with me. Michelle is out teaching her Step class. I'm VPN'd into work for today, hoping to comp this holiday next week when the kids are out of school. 9:05am

The kinds of bills I didn't worry about a decade ago: Renewed my JungleDisk account for another year and my bilikfamily.com domain for another two. 10:04am

I've been scanning my Moleskine notebook as I writeup my semi-annual self appraisal for work. It's a bit sad because I can relive the history of the cancer treatments as I read the pages. I (and Michelle I'm sure!) am getting burnt out on watching cancer treatments. Six more weeks and the chemo is mostly done. It should be a nice Easter! 10:40am

Just did a peer review of a co-worker who was very difficult to work with. It was one of the more awkward writeups I've done... 3:03pm

Took a Step & abs class. Claire came too! I didn't feel like it at the time, but I offered it up for the continuing good health of Michelle and Claire. I also pray that whatever this lil' illness Timothy has (a cold?) passes quickly and that we all don't catch it from him. 7:03pm

I sense a lot of praying by the youth of Souhegan Valley... "oh please God oh please let us have a snow day tomorrow!" ☃. 7:12pm

Time for a little study (related link) , a little reading (related link) , and get some sleep. Our darn cats woke us up twice last night. [It's a good thing that they're gorgeous or they'd be pushing daisies.] Good night all! 8:06pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Top 10 mistakes managers make with email site:wsj.com
Comment: Click the top Google link to see the entire WSJ article (and bypass the WSJ pay wall). #1 and #5 are my favorite tips.
Excerpt: Many of us think we use email well. We don't.Too many of us rush, causing confusion and requiring more time to clarify misunderstandings later. We miss chances to build relationships, motivate others, close deals and convey important information.

Donald Trump: Climate campaigner Al Gore 'should be stripped of Nobel Peace Prize after record snow.
Comment: While I agree, my fear is that when this blows up, it will tar the image of science for some time.
Excerpt: His comments follow a string of high-profile attacks on climate change advocates. Scientists have been forced to defend themselves after embarrassing admissions that some of their evidence was faulty.
