Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:33 PM

Good morning! I dropped the girls off at school. The bus came to pick up the boys. Michelle will be having a spa day at Nashua oncology. :-P I'll be VPN'd into work for the day but hope to catch a Step class later this morning. 7:56am

Just back from a good Step & abs class. Now back to work... 11:01am

My sim just crashed hard and dumped me back on the command line. I take that as a sign it's time to grab some lunch. 1:40pm

Just got a call from Michelle. Her spa day at Nashua oncology is going well and ahead of schedule. They decided not to give her an IV of iron because her numbers were better this week. So she'll be home a few hours earlier than anticipated. 2:53pm

Enjoyed some Bravos pizza tonight with the kids. I'm back to work but also downloading Fedora 12 to tinker with later. (related link) My friend Gene Chouiniere recommended it since I was already tinkering with the Ubuntu Linux distribution. 6:11pm

I've had enough fun for the day in looking at code and digital waveforms. Logging out and thinking about some dessert and hangin' with the kidlets for a while. 7:15pm

Succeeded in installing Linux ala Fedora 12 under VirtualBox tonight. It required significantly more command line fu than Ubuntu did but as long as the answers are Google-able (I know, it's not a word), the command line is fine for me. 9:03pm

I know I've already posted my updates for the day, but wanted to squeeze in one last prayer request: My good friend (also Daniel's godfather) and his wife are expecting. She went into labor last night but has stalled and is now on Pitocin to help move things along. I remember Pitocin from some of Michelle's deliveries. Yowsers! Pray that things progress well and there's good news tomorrow. Good night all! 9:32pm

100 Best Companies to Work For 2010: Qualcomm
Comment: #9 this year! It should be noted many of those benefits are for those who work at the San Diego headquarters campus. There are no "baseball games, surfing lessons, kayaking tours, white-water rafting, bonfires, bowling..." for the New England office.
Excerpt: Wireless pioneer works hard to provide an environment where "good people can do their best work." Some elements: stock options on hire, baseball games, surfing lessons, kayaking tours, white-water rafting, bonfires, bowling, and volunteering opportunities
