Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:44 PM

Time to get up for Mass. It's supposed to be 38°F & sunny. Sounds like a perfect day to sled in our back yard. We sure have the snow for it! 05:42am

Laughing at the Saturday Night Live spoof of an Obama/Clinton debate. (related link) The best comedy has a bit of truth in it. 05:53am

Happy Laetare Sunday. Is your priest brave enough to wear rose colored (aka pink) vestments today? 06:32am

Practiced more reading with Michael and Daniel. Timothy is enjoying his brand new Webkinz, a little pig. 10:50am

I was impressed! The priest we had today wore a vestment that was pink with some purple. It looked decent. 10:57am

Did some sledding in the yard w/the kids. Helped them make snowmen. Pictures & video to follow later. For now, a hot drink and... taxes. :-( 02:01pm

Reading about 122 foot, record breaking snowwoman in Bethel, Maine. (related link) That's something to do with all of this snow! 02:07pm

It's sunny and 37°F, so I stopped by the car wash. Did you know I have a bright red car underneath all of that dirty salt crust?! Go figya! 03:26pm

In the throws of TurboTax. Golds Gym pays Michelle such a token stipend, I sometimes wonder why they even BOTHER! 04:08pm

Taking a break and taking the family out for an early dinner at TGIF's. 04:31pm

Back from TGIF w/the family. Unusually slow service tonight, perhaps because NH vacations end tonight. Back to the taxes - now deductions. 06:20pm

Taxes are 90% done for now. When I head into the office on Tuesday, I need to get my 2007 calendar to do MA income apportionment. 07:20pm

Besides using our tax refund for wood & paying down Florida trip bills, Michelle & I are considering a tankless water heater installation. 08:01pm

Fixed the "Today's Gospel" script at my site. USCCB.org changed their formatting on March 1st so the script tripped up a bit. 09:47pm

Heading to sleep. I'm sure tomorrow there'll be lots of mom's crying crocodile tears as NH students go back to school. 09:51pm

Comments

All our snow is melting, so we just have a big pond covering our entire back yard- they can't play in that! I am off today for Pulaski Day, and all of my kids have school. This is very strange!

One thing I've really liked about this house is how the land is graded. It slopes back to front and then at the front of the property it slopes left to right to drain the water into our swamp, err, wetlands. There's even a culvert under the driveway to let the water pass underneath. It's almost as if someone put some serious forethought into it. :-)

There are homes in our neighborhood where the foot of their driveways get buried under water whenever we have a big storm or a lot of snow melt. There's no place for the water to go until the ground just absorbs it. And in winter, that often leads to big ice patches that make getting in and out of their driveways a bit more challenging.
