Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:44 PM

Our local news media gets as excited about covering a snow storm as CNN does about covering a Republican scandal. 06:00am

Milford, Nashua, Merrimack, Amherst, etc. Local school districts are closed today. (related link) Kids everywhere are rejoicing! 06:03am

My car has an appointment in two hours to get its snow tires installed. That's calling it close! Wouldda preferred last Friday afternoon... 06:06am

Tim went w/me as the snow tires were swapped in. When I got home I snowblew the driveway. Now for a bite to eat and back to my geek work. 10:51am

I'm learning how to sync my local project directories with a revision control server way out in Finland. Isn't dat veird? 01:26pm

AMD is offering me a lottery opportunity to buy a Wii for $234 (w/controller, nunchuck, and WiiSports). Is that really much of a deal? 02:06pm

The snow has tapered off in the last hour or so. I may need to do one quick cleanup pass tonight or tomorrow morning. 04:01pm

Michelle, Timothy, and the girls generously did a quick cleanup pass of the residual snow. The twins were more interested in staying warm. 05:08pm

In a scene reminiscent of my father, I started dozing shortly after dinner. Hope that doesn't cause problems sleeping tonight. 08:26pm

Hey Scott-
I just found an e-bay shop that does inexpensive personalized video game t-shirts- that have Mario Bros. and Kirby characters! Can you tell me, which character do Michael and Daniel like best?
Thanks!

Hi Alyssa,

I'd go with Mario for Daniel and Kirby for Michael. *If* you haven't done Timothy, I'd get Bowser for him. ;-)

Hi Lyss,

Sorry, I just remembered that yesterday you said you had found a shirt for Timothy. My brain's not firing on all cylinders yet...

OK- the shirts have even more specific characters from the games...like mario, Luigi, Pricess peach, Dr. mario...does it matter?
I am bidding on some Kirby games on e-bay!

I don't think it matters much. From what I gather, there were 2 Kirby games on the GameBoy Advance: "Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land" and "Kirby and the Amazing Mirror". I don't know much about the difference between the two or what the "street value" of each is. When we saw $40+ for a *used* one recently, my eyes popped out. Not even *new* GameBoy or DS cartridges run that much. Evidently it is discontinued but is in demand among some gamers.

While digging into it, I saw that there were 2 Kirby games for the DS. I may have to look into the one that Michael doesn't have...

I find it funny how many of your comments come in past midnight my local time. Teaching must really be keeping you up late these days.

I just won Nightmare in Dreamland for $5.50- but lost Amazing Mirror- it is up to $26!
I am always up past midnight now, and up around 6:20- I HATE IT!

I seem to recall it was Amazing Mirror that had the unusually high price tag.

I'm sorry to hear that you get so little sleep these days. It sounds like it's worse than that first month after a baby delivery.

Scott,
Don't worry about falling asleep after Dinner in front of the TV. I do it almost every night and think of it as just practice for the real night's sleep which starts around 11:00PM or Mid-night!

I suppose if I had stayed up things might have worked out. Last night I went to bed at the same time as Michelle (which is early by most folks' standards) and had one of the most restless nights I've had all year. That catnap after dinner really messed with my sleep cycles.

I won the other Kirby game too!
