Christmas preparations

I'm still enjoying the Advent season. In our home CCD classes we've been discussing Advent and Christmas season with the girls. We've been working with the kids on getting the Christmas cards together so that I could mail them out on Monday morning. The steady stream of Christmas cards from family and friends is arriving daily. I enjoy seeing the families that I haven't been able to see this year.

DS Lite OnyxLast night Michelle, the girls, and I worked on the boys' Christmas presents. Michelle and the girls focused on wrapping and labeling the bulk of the boys' gifts. My job was to put the "skins" on the boys' black Nintendo DS's. Since the boys are such Gameboy fanboys, we opted to upgrade those rather than buy a fresh-off-the-fab Nintendo Wii. My! Those 'onyx black' DS's do look cool! A lot less iPod'ish than their 'polar white' equivalents. The so called skins I put on are just stylish decals so that the boys can tell their units apart. The ones we chose are flames against a black background. One with red flames, one with blue flames, and one with green flames.

It seems like such a such a simple job, doesn't it? Put the decals on the gadgets. Unfortunately it took just as long as everything else the girls did last night. Getting the decals aligned just right, especially lining up the holes with the handheld's controls and screens, making everything straight and even, removing any bubbles, etc. The end result seems worth it. The finished product looks even better and it gives them a way each game player can be uniquely theirs.
