Mighty Mighty Timbo

Posted by Scott at 10:17 PM

TimothyTimothy - I got a call from Michelle shortly after I returned from my lunchtime workout. While she was upstairs in our bedroom, Timothy ran into his own room. He closed the door behind him. Michelle says that less than 30 seconds later she heard "crash"! A dresser (the one near the bottom of this picture) fell over on him. He had tried to climb on it… again! He and Daniel did something similar months ago. You'd think he'd learn!

I guess his guardian angels work overtime because he was more startled than injured. He quickly shook it off and went back to playing. No pains, no cuts, no bruises despite being pinned to the floor under its weight. Michelle went through a normal range of emotions from "are you okay" to "what the heck are you thinking Timbo!" but at the same time watching for any unusual symptoms. We'd been reluctant to strap these things to the wall after the first incident, but I'm starting to rethink that. Rarely have we had such a fearless child! If Michelle is getting any grey hair, we know who is accelerating it!

Click to read detailsGPS - I'd been doing research on automotive GPS's for the past several days. I'm not familiar with all the back roads of Massachusetts to help with my future commute and Michelle has local area travel plans for this summer as well. I'd settled on going with Garmin because they've stated that they plan on putting in a lot of Macintosh support this year. They'd be the only GPS vendor to do so. They are also a well respected company in this GPS navigation domain. I decided on the Garmin nüvi, shown at right. It's a relatively recent model from them with a lot of nice features in a very portable five ounce package. It should arrive in a couple of days.

Cheney - I was driving home and hearing a bit about Dick Cheney's hunting accident. ChappaquiddickUp in these parts, whenever liberal icon Senator Ted Kennedy goes blathering on (and boy does he do so!) about helping the poor, the helpless, the underprivileged, the innocent …, a standard comeback is "Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment". Now with the media tripping over themselves with this new Cheney story, even going so far as asking whether the vice president should resign, a new twist on the old zinger would be "Ted Kennedy could not be reached for comment". Actually, the press gives old Teddy such a pass on anything he says, I wouldn't put it past him to chime in on the vice president.

Comments

Hi, Scott.
The media is acting like Cheney lined up his friend in his scope and pulled the trigger. Hunting accidents happen all the time. My uncle has buckshot in his leg

Hi Lisa,

Yep, the media are getting a bit hyper on this story. I think two things strike them. When the story was released, it was given *first* to a small town news desk rather than the blessed Washington Post or New York Times. Second, I think secretly they wish it was the lawyer who shot Cheney and not the other way around! ;D

Yep, the kids all went sledding on Sunday. They'd better enjoy it while it lasts. It's supposed to be in the 40's for the next few days.
