Quiet Sunday

Posted by Scott at 10:15 PM

Sunday - It was a pretty quiet day today. As expected, we took the girls to church in split shifts — Michelle taking Abby at 7am and me taking Claire at 8:30am. In between Michelle stopped at the local donut shop. After Claire and I went, we stopped at one of Milford's numerous auto repair stores (there are way too many considering the size town we are…) to get some new wiper blades for the Accord. I was having fun driving to Massachusetts for interviews Thursday and Friday on worn out blades. After the new blades we stopped at the local grocery to pick up — da-da-dah! — pullups for Timothy. He felt like such a 'big boy' in them.

Painting - In the afternoon Michelle tried out some paint in a section of the dining room. In the end she didn't like it and went back. She also did some touchup in the basement where the kids had made some marks on the walls.

Spam - In the late afternoon I did some research on a technique I wanted to try to implement in the war on comment spam. Some approaches work by having you fill out an extra field. I went for something more subtle, but in order to add a comment, it requires the browser be relatively recent (Internet Explorer 5 or 6, Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox, Safari, or Opera), and have Javascript enabled. Since that is true of most of the folks who browse this humble site, I considered it an acceptable tradeoff. At the bottom of this post you'll see some 'test' comments where I try to make sure it works as designed and that there aren't any hidden gotchas I'm forgetting. When I get to work tomorrow I'll try an Internet Explorer test.

Dinner - In the evening we had a sitter watch the kids while Michelle and I went out on a date night to Bugaboo Creek in Nashua. Before we head back home I swung to the nearby Starbucks so that Michelle could try a short "maple mocha latte". Throughout the evening we discussed what the different job options entailed, but are trying to avoid "counting our chickens before they've hatched." No sense getting too enamored with any of the opportunities until we get a yes or no on the job offers...

Congrats to Timothy! Let us know when he becomes a Super Duper Pooper! We haven't had any luck with Kyle going on the toilet yet, but I know it will happen.
Good luck with the job hunt- hope it works out as you wish!
William did get his birthday card from you the other day- thanks from him. We had a bunch of his classmates over on Sat. for a party. Went pretty well for having 14 5/6 years olds in my house.
Later,
Lys

He's been not doing as well on the #2 front. He had showed some progress a month or so ago there, but recently it's just been #1.

Are you getting ready for Cassidy's birthday now? Any big plans? We did some practice birthday cake and candles with Michael and Daniel last weekend.

Weighing the job tradeoffs and sitting in 'limbo' like this is getting me a bit on the anxious side.
