Ice Ice Baby!

Nasty weather - Due to sloppy weather ARC Nashua let us go home early today, encouraging us to work from home if we could. I had lunch with two co-workers at Panera Bread and then ordered a grilled panini sandwich to go for Michelle. Michelle was happy because she had been so busy feeding the kids and getting the boys down for their afternoon naps, she hadn't time to eat for herself. Once I got home I immediately set out to clear the driveway before the snow would switch over to sleet or rain. I was worried that if it became just regular rain, the snow would just soak it up like a sponge. When Claire returned from school she was a bit surprised to see me home already. Unfortunately I didn't see much of her or the rest of the bunch because I went to a quiet room to finish a few support issues by remotely logging in to the office network. The weather was worrisome enough that tonight's Souhegan Valley Family Connection dinner which we planned on attending was postponed until tomorrow.

Joan of Arcadia - After we got the kids down for the evening I joined Michelle in watching Joan of Arcadia. I admit that when the show first came out I was a bit skeptical of it, especially with its theme song: Joan Osborne's 'What If God Was One Of Us'. Michelle has seen most episodes and I've caught a few (besides tonight). I have to admit that it's hard to believe this is the same CBS that gave us the SuperBowl half time show! 'Joan' is pretty good for a television drama that includes a young woman whose character regular talks to a humanized God. It also weaves the threads of each family member into the episodes so that Joan is just a small part of each episode. The younger brother is a nerd, the older brother (played by the son of the late John Ritter) is dealing with being recently paralyzed from the waist down, the father deals with crime as the chief of police, and the mother has numerous struggles within her job and home. Another refreshing change for prime time television is that it isn't all cast with "beautiful people". If you haven't seen it, give it a try. I admit that with television sweeps occurring over the next couple of weeks, it may be hard to recommend any television.

TiVo - Early Friday morning when it did its daily schedule synchronization, the TiVo realized that Adelphia reordered over half of its channel lineup. It is now recording shows on the correct channel once again. Michelle has regained an ounce of sanity since it now correctly records Blues Clues, Dora, Max and Ruby, etc.

Comments

Hey- i watched it once and really liked it- (partially b/c of people in the episode were discussing Joan of Arc and Joan of Arcadia as being paranoid schizophrenics)- adn then they were in a family therapy session- its fun for me to see religion and psychology mix together
