Bedford Village Inn

Posted by Scott at 11:23 PM

As I wrote earlier today, tonight was our company's holiday dinner. This year the Nashua site decided to hold the event at the Bedford Village Inn. It was among the nicest places we've celebrated together since I've been with the company. The only thing in the same ballpark was our very first holiday dinner at Stonehedge Inn in Tyngsboro. I must admit that as Milford residents, we would still like to try the Mile Away Restaurant. Anyway, back to tonight's celebration... The restaurant was elegantly decorated in a wide variety of traditional New England styles. Our company had reserved the Overlook Room although we were able to peek in at a few of the others. The dinner consisted of several courses and every one was delicious. We opted out of the cash bar because the selected wines were just shy of $10/glass. Michelle tells me that the included dinner wines were fine. She and I had a beef entrée served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. That fillet was one of the best I've had in many years. No special steak knife was required. It cut easily with a regular dinner knife. The meal finished off with a rich chocolate cake and coffee. The room had a beautiful fireplace and there was a musician playing a Lyon & Healy harp. We sat with two coworkers and their wives. Luckily we all have small children so there was plenty to talk about. Michelle was happy to have another occasion to wear the dress that she wore to Chris and Katie's wedding. She was even happier not to be a few months pregnant in it. *grin* About the only downside to the evening was that it was bitter cold out tonight (about 15°F) and that parking was a bit scarce. Overall the experience was memorable. We'll have to recommend it to visiting family if they want a special night out with loads of New England character.

So here are the details on what we ate:

  • Crispy Maine Crab Cakes with Julienne Butter Squash and Apple Salad and Creamy Tarragon Vinaigrette
  • Mixed Young Greens with Great Hill Dairy Blue Cheese, Sherry Vinaigrette and Toasted Walnuts
  • Grilled Center-Cut Filet of Beef with Bacon & Smoked Cheddar Crushed Potatoes and Red Wine Demi-Glace
  • Godiva Chocolate Layer Cake (vanilla anglais, raspberry coulis)

So it's safe to say, it beat the dinners Michelle and I usually have.
