Happy Ash Wednesday

Posted by Scott at 10:01 PM

I have had a really dull week. Sorry I haven't written, but there hasn't been anything new. I am really tired and am so excited about spring break. I have a lot of plans scheduled with my friends already. As soon as I get home on Saturday, I get to go to Lincolnshire over to my friend (and old roomate) Sara's house. She is having a birthday party for herself and our other good friend Amber since their birthdays are so close together. Seth is coming in with me for that since all of the girls are bringing their boyfriends. But then he is going back to Oregon. I am most looking forward to seeing my family. I really miss my mom and dad. I will be sure to show everyone my pityriasis rosea, so don't worry. And be afraid, be very afraid.

I went to 7:00 mass tonite for Ash Wednesday. Seth came with me. This year I am giving up pizza. I am also going to work on making more room for prayer in my daily life. Once I got so busy, I forgot to keep in touch with God. Lastly, I am going to try to start saying more positive things about other people, especially those that I don't get along with. Sounds good to me

Hi Suzy,

Glad you could write in. I was starting to wonder....

There has not been a lot going on around here other than a bit of cabin fever. I guess this will make Michelle appreciate spring that much more. It's hard to believe a couple of days ago I woke up and it was 4 below zero, NOT including wind chill! Hello! We're in March now. Spring is theoretically around the corner. Overall though the days have been hovering around freezing +/- 10 degrees, so it's not too bad.

I got Claire out the door early yesterday and took her with me to 7:30AM Mass at St. Pat's in Milford. After some discussions last week about Lent with my spiritual director I decided on a new habit - get up before Michelle and shower up _before_ the kids start ganging up on her. This way I have more time in the morning to help with getting diapers changed, kids dressed and fed, etc. OK, so I actually started a week before Ash Wednesday but I'm hoping that if I stick to it through Lent, it can become a permanent habit.

For me it's a real mortification. I do NOT like getting up in the morning. Mom can testify that left to my own inclinations I would sit in bed for at least an hour -- reading a paper, surfing the web for news, etc. You'd think I was still a teenager! I need that gene that dad has that allows him to consistently get up early.

Thanks for writing in. I've got to get back to business.

Scott, coming from a mom, I'm sure Michelle will truly appreciate what will hopefully become your new morning routine. Tom has always been very active in getting the kids ready in the morning, but after my hospital stay, he has been even more helpful- even doing laundry- and I really appreciate it!
Suzy, looking forward to seeing you too! Remember it is your favorite brother-in-law's birthday on Wed. And don't be jealous, but I'm going to Wal-Mart with Mom and Dad this morning!

Trying to get up before Michelle is a real benchmark. She's always been an early riser, worse than dad. I think the only reason I'm doing ok now is that she's sleeping in (relative to HER metabolism) because of the 2-3 feedings she gives Timothy at night. It mutes the usual spring she has in her step at 6AM.

Hey Scooze, can't wait to see how your skin disease is moving along, and I think it's a good Idea to be more positive about those stupid SOB's you don't like, even if their semi-evolved brains are too insignificant to comprehend it, right!
