Alyssa in the hospital

Posted by Scott at 10:05 AM

I'm at work at the moment and don't have a lot of time to write. I wanted to ask for intercessory prayers for my sister, Alyssa, and her unborn child. Alyssa went into the hospital yesterday because she was having premature contractions. If the baby were about four weeks older they would just do a caesarian section and deliver the baby. Unfortunately it is too early (34 weeks) and high risk. The experts are doing what they can to stop the contractions and monitor her for a while. There are any number of ways things could go at the moment. Call our house if you need more details. I'll update when more is known.

Update [2PM] : Due to the seriousness of this, mom and dad will be leaving NH tomorrow morning to head back to Chicago. While they will be missed, for all practical purposes we are back on our feet. The Tarpeys certainly need their help more than we do. It makes me glad that Michelle did deliver 11 days early since it gave us more time to get re-settled. Claire is a bit sad because she has been sick since this past weekend. What a time to be sick -- when you're on school spring break and your grandparents are visiting! We suspect that we will fly her to Chicago this summer as we did last summer. If we're feeling generous, we may even buy her a return ticket! *grin*
