Album, New Beds, Movies...

Click to see the albumI know it's been a month since my last album. Even today I almost didn't get this album up and online due to technical difficulties which I won't go into. It just doesn't seem as much fun taking pictures when you're indoors as much as you are in the winter.

The boys got new beds this past weekend. Well, actually they each got a new mattress. Long term we want to put them in bunk beds but it wouldn't be safe at this age. They are outgrowing their cribs and need something to get them prepared for sleeping in a bed.

The boys seem to want to talk. They don't say much yet but a bunch of jibberish. Yet they say it as if it really means something. I'm sure that by their third birthday I'll wish they would cut back on their talking.

Claire and Abby have been big helps to their mom. Many mornings Claire helps Abby get dressed and does her hair. This picture shows that Abby likes to help mom with folding laundry. Who knows how long that will last?! I've been rather impressed with Abby lately. She not only does well keeping herself busy with projects, the computer, workbooks, etc, but she also is doing well enough with basic phonics to read some simple words -- those rare English words that follow the rules.

We watched The Sound of Music with the girls for the first time this past weekend. I think it was the first time I'd ever seen it all the way through rather than just clips. It 2 hours and 13 minutes long! I also watched Star Wars Episode I - the Phantom Menace with Claire this weekend. The pod race scenes are very cool on DVD when you use all six speakers. I figured Claire might like episode one better than two because Anakin is still young in episode one. I had also forgotten how incredibly annoying the Jar Jar Binks character is!

No other major news to report. It was a pretty quiet weekend. YMCA, Mass, a few meals out, a little shopping.... ho hum. From what I can tell, Chicago is having a major cold spell now. This balances out the recent winter heat wave it had. It's the law of averages, eh?
