New Album, a Friend Heads Home, Law Resigns

Click to see the album I realized that I had a bunch of pictures sitting in the camera waiting to be processed, so I worked on these shots while the girls and I watched Stuart Little 2. There are a wide variety of shots: the boys playing in baskets, the girls playing with Russell, Claire hamming it up, Abby showing what happens if you keep denying that you're tired... I think sometime during the holiday break I'm going to try to migrate all of the photo albums from MV's servers to Apple's servers. Somewhere in the next several months we'd like to stop paying for MV service. About the only thing I'm still using at MV is email, but I can get email from other channels. I think during the break I also want to learn about using PHP to assist in website development.

It's was a bit of a sad day at the office. Today was the last work day in the US for a UK based ARC application engineer (i.e. a job like mine) who had flown out for several weeks to help out here stateside. We learned more about the ARC processor; he learned more about our USB solutions. Today we took him to lunch at a Nashua Japanese Bistro called You You. I'd never been there before. Like many Chinese restaurants, they have good reasonably priced specials during the weekday lunch hour. You can even get sushi!

I'm rather happy relieved that Cardinal Law stepped down. I had been hoping he would for a while. People think that because I'm conservative it's only people like Bill Clinton that I want to have resign. Not so. I wanted Law to resign and I wish Trent Lott would resign. All three caused serious scandal which lowered respect for the presidency, the Catholic Church, the Republican party. It's so hard to focus on your "agenda" (I hate the term) when you face the charges these men did as leaders. I believe detractors actually like having these folks stay in power so that they have someone to tar the opposition with. With both Congress and the presidency in control of the same party, the Democrats love having Trent Lott as Senate majority leader. For the DNC it's almost as good as when Newt was in the leadership. As relieved as I am about Cardinal Law resigning, I can almost certainly predict the followup media headline: "Despite Law's Departure the Problems in Boston Continue". What! That didn't resolve everything?! (yanks tongue out of cheek...)
