work... home... what's the difference?

Yesterday when I got home, it almost felt like being at work. I picked up our DVD/VCR combo unit on the way home from work. When I got home I installed the unit with some assistance from Claire. Once it was all setup, I put in the Shrek DVD that Chris and Katie got us for Christmas last year. While Claire and Abby watched the movie, I worked on re-programming the schedule of the sprinkler system to do longer waterings less frequently to help the lawn develop deeper roots. After that I hooked up the ADSL broadband modem that came in yesterday. Verizon still hasn't hooked us up to a line card in the Milford central office yet, but when they do, we should be ready.

Yesterday we also mailed out our “we've moved...” cards to friends and family. I didn't realize it but we got Chris and Katie's wedding invitation in the mail this past week. It's very cute! It has a backdrop picture of Chris and Katie sitting together in 1st grade. They are the opposite of Michelle and me. We had known each other about 11 months when we got married. On the other hand Chris and Katie have known of each other nearly their entire lives.

Michelle took the kids to Greenfield state park yesterday. (the red 'X' on this map marks the location relative to Milford) She said it was a nice lake and reasonably close but the weather was too cool and windy for the kids to enjoy it. Today would have been a better day to drive there since it'll be warm and humid but Michelle has a doctor appointment today.

I read a nice article on stewardship this morning at breakfast. I gave a talk on stewardship at our parish a few years ago so I couldn't resist checking this description. This article was nice for its clarity of principles without delving into “you should give this amount, this much time, etc...” which makes the Church look like a money hungry institution. Read it for a good perspective on resources, time, talents, and our response.
