Timothy's trip to Dartmouth

Posted by Scott at 06:27 AM

Timothy's consultation - Today I'm staying home and watching the kids while Michelle drives Timothy to Lebanon, NH (about 2 hours away) to see a specialist for an initial consultation at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. They'll look over his MRI and CT scans and review what will happen with respect to his ear and jaw over the next half dozen years. Wish Michelle luck on her drive today. I'll have more details when she returns.

Update [next morning] - Much like our last trip years ago to Dartmouth (for Michael's kidney test), the weather was miserable for driving today -- rainy, foggy, etc. Nevertheless Michelle made it on time and had little trouble seeing the doctor. He didn't have much new information to add but it was important that this consultation take place because this is one of the two doctors that will be operating on him over the next several years. Michelle's drive home was a bit scary because in addition to the weather issues, she got detoured off of Route 89 for a large segment of the trip. There were no "Detour" signs along the way to re-affirm that your were going the right way. Luckily she had her maps and about half an hour later ending up in Concord. After that she knew how to get the rest of the way home. She arrived shortly before Claire got home from school.

I had a good day with the twins and Abby. We went to the YMCA. We picked up some Wendy's for lunch on the way home. Once home we played, danced, and listened to music. During the twins' nap, Abby and I rested while watching Shrek. I also got to watch Abby play Super Mario World. It was amazing to me to watch a five year old girl with this much skill !! She was really doing well navigating through the worlds, defeating enemies, timing her actions, etc.

When Michelle got home I ran a few errands with Claire and picked up some take out Chinese for dinner. Later Michelle had me and Claire drop off Abby at gymnastics. She figured that while Abby was there Claire and I could share a hot drink at nearby J. Beaners and Claire could read more of Charlotte's Web to me. Claire is so funny. When I said we could share a hot chocolate, she indicated she wanted something more exotic. So we sat by their fireplace sharing a decaf carmel mocha latte while she read another chapter to me. She loved that! The timing was perfect and when we had finished we picked Abby up and brought her home. Once we were all back Michelle and I put them all to bed and zonked out ourselves shortly thereafter. It had been a long day for both of us.
