"We Got Him"

Photo courtesy of the APSaddam in custody - Imagine my surprise this morning when I turned on the television to try to find out how serious this Nor'easter storm would be and I see live coverage of the now infamous "We got him" speech. From there I knew it would be hard to find coverage of anything else. At least this is one piece of international news that won't get trumped by some new Michael Jackson scandal...

In this buzz of news, someone (Bush?) said this is a goal, not an end. I have to agree. It's a major, major goal but it'll be some time yet and a lot of work before Iraq is a self-governing sovereign nation. Still, I'm hopeful and yet somewhat concerned about some near term retaliatory strikes - both here and at our soldiers stationed overseas.

Nor'easter - We are at the very beginning of yet another New England Nor'easter. Again the meteorologists are not able to predict how much we can get until it's practically on top of us. It could be a foot or even two overnight. I think it's safe to say that Claire is not likely to be going to school tomorrow and I likely won't be at work first thing in the morning. Michelle is probably also going to cancel tomorrow's step class. At least it should help rebuild the snow base on our hill out back. When the kids were sledding on it today, it was getting pretty thin!

Mario and Luigi logoGames - Since we're expecting a lot of time indoors, Michelle took the girls to Kaybee Toys and picked up a few new video games. For the GameCube she picked up Frogger's Adventure's: The Rescue. While some find frogger style games to be boring, that genre has been a favorite of Michelle's. It brings back memories of the frogger games she played as a teenager. It also includes some multiplayer mini-games (ala the Mario Party series) as you unlock new levels in the main game. For the GameBoy she picked up Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I had read good reviews of it but didn't know how much interactive reading it involved. I guess that rules Abby out for a few years. Nonetheless she's enjoyed watching me play it. Perhaps I can show Claire how to get around in it.

Well, we didn't get too badly hit with snow. I'd say we got only 8 to 10 inches. It did cancel most of the schools for today because of the timing of the storm. It was just finishing up around 8am this morning. If it had finished the night before, perhaps more schools would have been open. Because schools were cancelled, Michelle also cancelled teaching her step class. When Merrimack cancels school, the Merrimack Y cancels its KidStop feature which usually ends up cancelling aerobics classes.
